HARLEY

2003 Standardbred Gelding, RedStar T-bone 17.1HH
“Harley” is a fun, loveable guy with lots of energy and a good mind. He has a handsome head and neck, nice big legs and feet and conformation most suited to flat work, trail riding, and possibly distance riding. Harley has excellent ground manners, is good with his feet, stands well for mounting and loves getting out on the trail. He has lived a relaxed and happy life on our farm since he was two and was trained for riding at four, he was never raced and never paces; also no buck, bolt or rear.

Harley is currently being schooled for basic dressage and has a good halt and a lovely big walk and trot. He is ridden regularly and is good on roads and sure footed and hard working on the trail. This big boy has lots of heart and will make someone a fun and energetic riding partner. $3,000.00

BUTTERCUP

2008 Grade Filly
Hello! My name is Buttercup, I am 2 years old and 15.1 HH. My mother is a Percheron X and my dad is a purebred Belgian. I was born in open pastures in Alberta and came to live at Brekita with my sister Bijou when I was 6 months old. I am a sensitive and cautious type of horse so I did not do too well with the whole auctioning/shipping time; it was all a bit fast and rough for me. I must say that my new humans realized this soon after I arrived and adopted a slow and gentle approach which soon had me understanding and liking them a lot more. I am now really enjoying all the games and exercises we do together. I try my hardest to understand and play by the rules. My humans test me with all sorts of scary things but I know that I am supposed to just stand still and keep paying attention to new commands. I even walked over a tarp! My trainer says that I will grow up to be 17 HH and that I have excellent conformation, lots of energy and great movement. She also says that I would make an excellent eventer or cross country horse. I don’t know what that means but it sounds fun and I’d like to try it. Mom says I am priceless but offered at $4,000 to approved home.

BIJOU

2008 Grade Filly
Hi There! I’m Bijou! I am 2 years old now and the same breeding as my sister Buttercup; a Belgian father and a Percheron X mother. I was never sure what all the fuss was about after we were weaned. I thought it was exciting and adventurous to come to BC. Brekita is just my style; kind humans, lots of good food and really laid back. I have fun with my humans here; when they show up at the barn I go right over to see them and get a scratch and sometimes even a treat. They catch me and brush me (did I tell you I love being brushed?) and we do work together. They show me all kinds of weird, noisy stuff but none of that really bothers me. Life is just easier if you go with the flow and don’t get too excited about anything. I hear that I will be 16.2 HH when I grow up and my trainer says I could be good in any discipline and I would especially make a great driving horse because I am so calm. They showed me my pictures and I must say; I won’t hire that photographer again. I am much prettier in real life and my coat is black as can be. Come and see me in real life and you will love me right away – I swear! If you do want to be my forever home, I can leave here for $2,500.

WIZARD

2008 Grade Gelding
Well hello there! I’m Wizard and sometimes they call me wiz-man….I think it’s because I am so smart or maybe it has something to do with how fast I move. Anyway, I am a 2 yr old Anglo Arab gelding and I am 15.1 hand tall. I came to live at Brekita when I was 6 months old and this place sure has been fun, except for that whole gelding thing, but we won’t talk about that. I have lots of room here to run and buck and play and burn off all this energy that I am blessed with. I try to get the girls to join in the fun by nipping them, but they are not very interested and I think its because they can’t keep up with me! I am the one who notices everything that is going on around here and I am always quick to alert the herd if I see something unusual. I also like hanging out with my people, they push my boundaries a lot with things like ropes and blankets and barrels, and sometimes it makes me tense, but mostly I enjoy having something interesting to do. There is lots of stuff that makes me a little nervous and jumpy, but I am fast learning to trust my trainer and respect her space no matter what is happening. She is teaching me to stand still at the end of my rope and I like that because it helps me learn to relax on my own. My humans say that I am very handsome, very smart and I have beautiful movement and good conformation. They feel that with my huge energy and well built back legs I would make a really excellent jumper. Whatever I do I know that I need to be with a person who is very grounded and very patient as that helps me be my very best and I’m pretty sure my best will take me far in life. $1600

SHERRY

7 yo, 15.2 HH Bay Mare
Lovely, kind and gentle mare who is a real pleasure to work with and be around in the barn. Her training has been with natural horsemanship; she is responsive, smart and sensitive to body language on the ground and in the saddle. She completed the JF Level I clinic with flying colours, and has begun to learn her level II stuff with ease. She rides easily in rope halter, will quickly sidle up to anything you want to use as a mounting block and has a great forward walk and trot with no buck, bolt or rear, all of which make her a fun and comfortable partner on the trails. Sherry has a solid build, is totally sound, has good conformation and great feet that easily go barefoot. She stands nicely for the vet and farrier, loads easily and ground ties for brushing and saddling. This mare has a heart of gold and is looking for a loving home where she will be used regularly. Excellent potential in competitive trail or endurance disciplines.
